Queen & Metropolis
Here’s a little easter egg: Freddie Mercury wrote Metropolis’ sound track. Fritz Lang’s movie was originally released in 1927, however in it’s restoration (1984) they had Freddie to create the song for the film that was originally mute. Check out his solo soundtrack:
Later on, Queen used this happy happening to film their movie clip (1983) for Radio Ga Ga and we can see scenes and the scenario of the movie in their music video.
Incredibly, the press didn’t like Freddie Mercury and Giorgio Moroder’s sound track, later in 1985 the song was nominated for the Razzie Awards under the category “Worst Original Score” even though the song reached 10# in the UK singles chart.
Other cool stuff: Love Kills was the fist Freddie Mercury’s song recorded as a solo artist. Giorgio Moroder, who co-wrote the song also worked in Scarface, Top Gun and other various famous movies.
